I use only natural dyes mordanted with alum. This method has no harmful impact on the environment or the fibers. I have two staple fibers: Coopworth is my basic longwool; and Corriedale is my finer, crimpier wool. The shepherds I have found for these fleeces have the highest standards for breeding, raising, and processing of the wool. I also include other breeds like Shetland, Cormo, CVM, Jacob, Romney, Finn.
When I see a nice fleece, I get it! I blend different fibers, too. I will combine silks or mohair or a bit of glitz to get another effect, texture, or color to create an interesting yarn. The possibilities are endless!

Here you see a sample of my colors. The first 24 make up my basic pallet. The next 12 shades vary. This is where I play! There are often color combinations, and fiber blends that are limited and special. Seasonal palettes come from different plants when they are in bloom. Colors can be created in any fiber, and special orders of a particular color or fiber can be done. Just let me know what you like!

Of course, as with any hand process, dye lots vary. This is especially true with natural dyes because the color can vary slightly with soil conditions, amount of rainfall or sunshine, temperature, etc. Be sure to order a sufficient quantity to complete your project.
